Pretty Cotton Fabric Pattern Used to Make Things

I just love this fabric pattern!  It’s a very soft cotton fabric. I’ve used it before to make yoga accessories, like a yoga mat and yoga pads
Oooh, pretty!

A very small water bottle carrier with insulated batting
Eyeglass holder with fleece lining, plus a travel tissue holder

Zippered bags in different sizes, ranging from the largest 11½” x 10¼” to the smallest is 4 ½” x 6 ½”

I make a lot of different zippered bags. I have them all over the house. And of course, give them away as gifts.

A few years ago, I needed something to take to the gym that wasn’t a purse, yet held my wallet, cell phone, and keys. I came up with a “hands-free neck purse.” They always come in handy when I have to hold my small grandchildrens’ hands without hanging on to a purse where the strap usually falls off my shoulders. I’ve since made several using a variety of different materials. For instance, this one is made with a store bought towel cut in half lengthwise. The  pockets are of course, using this wonderful cotton fabric pattern. Inside one pocket is a key fob.

Homemade Cell Phone Holder Made of Fabric w/Fleece Lining

TonyB just got another cell phone through his job. It's a Samsung Galaxy, with a bigger screen than an iPhone. Anyway, he wanted a holder for it—so I made him one. This is the first one. It turned out to be a little tight, even though it doesn't look it. (See one of the pics below.) The lining is fleece, that's why it is very snug. I didn't want his phone to slip out. I like it, but he says it was a little too snug. I did make him another one, and I would have taken a few pics of it, since it's made a little different, and with a pocket, but unfortunately, my little camera was recently dropped by someone who shall remain nameless—Christina. It's OK though. I've had for seven years. I've dropped it before, and so has a couple of my grandchildren. But guess what! I ordered another one. It's the same model. It's a used one,  but for a fraction of what I would've paid for a new one. I have too many accessories that went with it that would have been useless if I bought a new model.

Anyway here are pics of the one TonyB isn't using I'll call this the prototype. I'm just dumbfounded that it took me all day to make!

By the way, I love this fabric pattern! It's one of my all-time favorites. I bought yards and yards of it. I've even sold some of it back to associates (clerks?) at JoAnns who wanted some and knew I had purchased a lot of it!

Marisa's No-Sew Super Hero Capes for Small Children

While my youngest daughter Marisa was on maternity leave, she thought she would make some super hero capes--18 to be exact--to give away at her son's 4th birthday party this past June.

At first her sister and I thought that she might be crazy to want to make that many--too much work--but she did it! In her own words: "These were super easy!"

To make the logos, Marisa purchased Quilter's Template made the templates for the logos using Quilter's Template plastic she bought at JoAnn's store. She then used the templates on felt to make the logos. She did an excellent job! I helped in cutting out the capes that were made from fleece using toddler bibs as a template.  She folded the bib, then traced around the neck, then made the tracing bigger and longer to make the cape. Marisa thought the capes had to be cut with scissors because she never heard of a rotary cutter! Bless her heart.

Anyway, for the neck closure, I started out sewing the velcro on the necks of four of them, then ending up gluing on the velcro on the rest. Well see how well the glue stays on. If they do, then this could be a no-sew project.
