My Very First Free Motion Quilting Project

After a few years at sewing (easy, crafty stuff), I thought I would try my hand at free motion quilting. I used to think it was intimidating, but I have to say, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, although I'm pretty sure I over did it on the free motion because it is a lot flatter than before I free motion quilted it.

There are three layers to my 25" x 16" small quilt: Main cotton, flannel backing, and cotton batting sandwiched in between. Easy Peasy! Originally, it was supposed to be a yoga accessory for my knees, but for now, I'll just use it as a....hmmmm, I'm not sure. Oh well.

P.S. I love the fabric!

Here are a few great tutorials with pictures:

Goodnight Baseball as Illustrated by Christina Forshay

It has been quite a while since my last blog! Too many things happened, one of which was my back surgery. Totally unexpected!  I am fixed and feeling much better now. Maybe I'll post about it one day.

On to more important things. My darling daughter, Christina Forshay, did it again! Her newest book she illustrated, Goodnight Baseball, was officially released this month. The first picture below, is what I took from her blog.

Please excuse me while I put on my "proud mom hat," to brag a bit or two! The front and back covers are beautiful. No jacket needed because they are so shiny with something called spot gloss. The cover also has a vintage look and feel to it. Christina's book was spotted at a Barnes and Noble.

Below is a review taken from Publishers Weekly:

"Created in partnership with Sports Illustrated Kids... Forshay’s (The Really Groovy Story of the Tortoise and the Hare) energized illustrations are a high point, handily conveying the excitement of a nighttime game, while smoothly bringing the mood down as the boy falls sleep on the drive back home. ..."
